Leaving care and finding your own house is an opportunity for you to set your own standard of living, and find the house that you want to live in.But before you launch yourself into house hunting, ask yourself the following questions:
What do I want for myself?
AND:
If there was nothing stopping me, what type of house would I like to live in and where would it be located?
It is important to not only be realistic while you are starting out, but you also need to be true to yourself, and what you think you need. There is also nothing wrong with thinking about the type of house you eventually want to live in.
There are many different options when it comes to housing, but it is important to put your best self forward, remember there are thousands of other people looking for housing as well. Just like going for a job interview, keep in mind how you present yourself if you are meeting with a real estate agent or potential flat mates in a share house.
It’s okay to stay.
